Afyonkarahisar Health Sciences University (AFSÜ) has reaffirmed its commitment to becoming a regional medical education hub and supporting talent from neighboring countries following the successful completion of a training program for Kazakh dentistry students.
Afyonkarahisar Health Sciences University (AFSÜ) in Turkey has taken another significant step toward strengthening scientific and educational diplomacy with Central Asian countries. According to reports published on June 23, 2026, the university has specially opened the doors of its Faculty of Dentistry to students and future specialists from Kazakhstan to benefit from the advanced educational and clinical capacities of this center [1].
Successful Completion of Training for Kazakh Students Within the framework of student exchange and international mobility programs, a group of students from the Faculty of Dentistry at the Khoja Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University completed their specialized and clinical courses at AFSÜ. Nigora Rakhmanova and Sevara Tokhtanmurat were among the students who successfully completed this training period and received their certificates of completion [2]. This cooperation demonstrates the high level of trust between the educational institutions of the two countries in the field of health sciences.
Message from the Rector of AFSÜ to Future Dentists Prof. Dr. Adem Aslan, Rector of Afyonkarahisar Health Sciences University, emphasized during a ceremony held for the graduation of these students that the doors of the university are always open to dentistry candidates from Kazakhstan. He noted that AFSÜ is ready to cooperate with these students not only during their education but also in the subsequent stages of their professional and specialized lives [1]. Dr. Aslan added that the university's goal is to train specialists who can provide healthcare services in their own countries according to global standards.
Expanding Scientific Diplomacy with the Turkic World This training program, coordinated under the supervision of the AFSÜ International Relations Application and Research Center, is considered part of Turkey's macro-strategy to strengthen cultural and scientific ties with Turkic-speaking countries [3]. Cooperation with Kazakh universities in fields such as health management, health tourism, and clinical dentistry training has provided a platform for the exchange of technical knowledge and practical experience between specialists from both countries.
Utilizing modern laboratories and equipped clinics, the AFSÜ Faculty of Dentistry has become a popular destination for international students. University officials hope that these scientific exchanges will lead to joint research projects and the improvement of oral and dental health levels in the region [2]. This approach further solidifies Afyonkarahisar's position as a leading university city in the health sector.
