The Golden Age of Ardahan University: Rector Emiroğlu Outlines Major Goals and Investments

Ardahan University (ARÜ), located at Turkey's strategic border point with Georgia and Armenia, has entered a new phase of prosperity under the management of Professor Dr. Öztürk Emiroğlu. At a meeting held today at the 'Yenisey' guesthouse, the Rector detailed the major investments and strategic goals of this scientific center to the media [1].

Transformation in Infrastructure and Clean Energy One of the most prominent parts of the university's development plan is the focus on sustainability and modernization. According to Emiroğlu, the construction of a massive 16,000-square-meter library and central cafeteria complex is progressing faster than expected [5]. Additionally, the installation of a solar power plant with a 2 MW capacity has entered the implementation phase, marking a significant step toward providing clean energy for the campus [2]. Furthermore, the TÜBİTAK scientific laboratory is scheduled to open this October to double the research capabilities of students and faculty [1].

A Hub for Modern Agriculture and Animal Husbandry in the Region Given the region's economic structure, Ardahan University has launched special projects in the fields of agriculture and animal husbandry. Emiroğlu announced that the groundbreaking for the Animal Health Research and Application Hospital, with a budget exceeding 180 million Lira, will take place in September [4]. This hospital is intended to turn Ardahan into the main center for scientific animal husbandry in eastern Turkey. In this regard, new educational programs such as 'Beef and Dairy Cattle Breeding' at the Göle faculty and 'Beekeeping' at the central campus have been launched [1]. Internationalization and a Leap in Global Rankings Ardahan University has also achieved significant success in the academic field. The university's global ranking, which was previously around 7200, has now reached 3000 worldwide with a major leap [1][2]. Referring to promotional activities in Azerbaijan, the United States, and Kosovo, Emiroğlu emphasized the university's goal to attract more international students [2]. Recent collaborations with Baku Eurasia University and the signing of a protocol with Ankara University in the fields of Technopark and 'Apitherapy' (bee therapy) demonstrate the university's determination to expand cross-border scientific networks [3][1].

Green Transportation and Smart Campus In another part of the meeting, the Rector announced innovative transportation plans on campus. Projects for using electric buses and trams for student transport are being reviewed, and electric vehicle charging stations are now active at the university [1]. These measures, alongside 'Sports-Friendly Campus' projects, are part of the effort to improve the quality of student life and create a modern and smart educational environment [2].
