Adana Alparslan Türkeş University of Science and Technology (ATÜ) launched a major "educational leap" in July 2026, introducing new programs in artificial intelligence, aviation, and defense industries to train a specialized workforce. [1]

ATÜ's New Strategy for Transforming Higher Education On July 10, 2026, Professor Dr. Adnan Sözen, Rector of Adana Alparslan Türkeş University of Science and Technology (ATÜ), revealed details of the university's comprehensive plan to prepare for future careers. This initiative, known as the "Educational Attack," is built on strengthening technology-oriented infrastructure and aligning with the "Turkey's Century" vision. [1][2] The primary goal of this program is to train specialized human resources in fields expected to have the highest demand in the global labor market over the next decade.

Focus on Artificial Intelligence and Data Science One of the main pillars of this transformation is the expansion of fields related to artificial intelligence. Utilizing the capacities of the Faculty of Computer and Informatics, ATÜ offers various programs including AI Engineering, Software Engineering, and Big Data Analysis. [2][3] According to Dr. Sözen, the university seeks to fill the skill gap in the digital industry not only at the undergraduate level but also at the associate degree level with programs such as "AI Operator" and "Enterprise Informatics Specialization." [2]

Leadership in Aviation and Defense Industries Recognized as a specialized university in aviation, ATÜ has increased its investments in strategic sectors. New fields such as Air Traffic Control, Climate Science, Meteorological Engineering, and Aviation Management have been added to the list of active educational programs. [3] These measures are taken to meet the engineering needs of the Turkish defense industry and strengthen Adana's position as a technology hub in the Mediterranean region, allowing students to enter the specialized labor market directly. Joining Turkey's Top Technical Universities A major milestone for the university in 2026 was officially joining the "Technical Universities Union" in June. With this membership, ATÜ stands alongside prestigious institutions such as Istanbul Technical University (ITU) and Middle East Technical University (METU). [4] This strategic cooperation enables student exchange, sharing of advanced laboratories, and implementation of joint international projects in biotechnology, sustainable energy, and nanotechnology, which has significantly elevated the university's academic ranking. [4]

Reviving Bioengineering and Success in Applied Sciences Alongside the focus on hard technologies, ATÜ announced that it is resuming student admissions for Bioengineering after a two-year hiatus and a curriculum revision. [1][2] Additionally, the university's "Culinary Arts and Gastronomy" department achieved a 100% employment and admission rate this year, demonstrating that the university's modern approach to service and tourism careers has been widely welcomed and has become one of the center's most popular fields.
