The city of Bursa, Turkey, hosted 300 elite students who gathered for a Model United Nations simulation to address complex international challenges, including cybersecurity and space diplomacy.

In an event demonstrating the dynamism of the younger generation in diplomacy, approximately 300 students from various schools in Bursa participated in the "Şahinkaya MUN'26" conference [1]. This four-day meeting provided students the opportunity to act as representatives of different countries and exchange views on the most pressing issues of today's world.

Seven Specialized Committees for 21st Century Challenges The conference included seven distinct committees, each focusing on a specific topic. Key highlights included the examination of space law and astronaut security in the UNOOSA committee, as well as the regulation of "Deepfake" technologies and the spread of misinformation using artificial intelligence in the UNCSTD committee [2]. Using diplomatic language, students sought to find practical solutions for these modern dilemmas.

From Circular Economy to Middle East Crises In addition to technological issues, classic diplomatic topics were not overlooked by these young participants. In the Security Council (UNSC), diplomatic tensions between the United States, Israel, and Iran were analyzed [3]. Furthermore, topics such as money laundering in the global economy, criminal justice reform, and the implementation of a circular economy for sustainable development were discussed in other committees [2].

Crisis Scenario: Management Practice Under Pressure One of the most engaging parts of the meeting was the Joint Crisis Committee (JCC) titled "Crown and Black Flag." In this section, students were placed in a historical crisis scenario to test their skills in rapid decision-making, stress management, and conflict resolution under pressure [1]. These exercises significantly contributed to strengthening leadership skills and critical thinking among participants.

Strengthening Soft Skills for the Future The organizers of this event believe that such conferences are more than just an academic exercise. During these four days, students learned negotiation skills, public speaking, research, and the drafting of international resolutions [3]. This experience helps them enter professional fields as future leaders with a broader perspective and a deeper understanding of international relations.
