A Journey from the Dawn of Civilization Toward Clean Energy In recent days, the archaeological site of Göbeklitepe, known as the 'zero point in history,' hosted an event that linked the distant past to the technologies of the future. An educational program titled 'In the Light of Göbeklitepe: Renewable Energy and a Sustainable Future' was held for a group of selected students to introduce them to the importance of the environment and clean energy sources [1]. This initiative represents a modern approach to utilizing cultural heritage to teach contemporary scientific concepts. ## Workshop Details and the Role of TÜBİTAK This project, prepared by the Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality and supported by the TÜBİTAK 4004 program, focused on 30 students aged 10 to 13 [2]. These students, selected from various schools in the region, participated in an intensive four-day course. The primary goal of the program was to create awareness regarding climate change and provide practical training on energy production methods from natural sources such as the sun, wind, and water [3]. ## Linking Stone Pillars with Modern Solar Panels One of the most fascinating parts of the course was examining the relationship between the iconic T-shaped pillars of Göbeklitepe and the sun. Instructors and experts from the Şanlıurfa Science Center used electronic kits equipped with solar panels to show students how the orientation of these 12,000-year-old structures could relate to modern concepts of solar energy absorption [2].
