İnönü University in Turkey and the University of Tuzla in Bosnia and Herzegovina signed a comprehensive cooperation protocol aimed at strengthening academic ties, student exchange, and joint research projects in the fields of health and engineering.

In an effort to strengthen scientific and cultural ties between Turkey and Bosnia and Herzegovina, a high-level delegation from İnönü University, led by Rector Prof. Dr. Nusret Akpolat, conducted an official visit to Bosnia to meet with officials from the University of Tuzla. This meeting resulted in the signing of a bilateral cooperation protocol, marking a new chapter in the academic relations between the two countries [1].

Agreement Details and Areas of Cooperation This protocol, signed on July 11, 2026, encompasses a wide range of scientific and research collaborations. According to the terms of the agreement, the two universities will exchange knowledge and implement joint projects in the fields of health sciences, educational sciences, sports sciences, biology, and engineering [2]. During the signing ceremony, Prof. Dr. Nusret Akpolat emphasized that these collaborations will not only elevate the academic level of both universities but also strengthen the deep historical and cultural bonds between the two nations through science and knowledge.

Double Diploma Program and International Exchange One of the most prominent parts of this agreement is the planning and implementation of a "Double Diploma" scheme, particularly within the faculties of sports sciences. This program allows students to complete part of their studies in the partner country and receive a valid degree from both universities upon graduation [1][3]. Furthermore, facilitating the mobility of faculty members and students within the framework of academic exchange programs is another priority of this protocol, which will significantly contribute to the development of students' international experiences.

Strengthening Joint Research Infrastructure In meetings held between Prof. Dr. Amir Karić, Rector of the University of Tuzla, and the delegation from Malatya, emphasis was placed on the coordination of curricula and the organization of joint scientific conferences and workshops. Dr. Karić noted that this strategic partnership in education and scientific production provides new international opportunities for researchers and students of both institutions [2]. These collaborations are intended to focus on the current needs of the global labor market and the enhancement of educational standards at both universities [3].

This visit and the subsequent agreement demonstrate İnönü University's strong determination to expand scientific diplomacy in the Balkan region and strengthen its position as a leading international scientific center.
