More than 15,000 creative students across Turkey unveiled their advanced designs for space habitation at the DENEYAP Technology Workshops end-of-term project festival, showcasing the country's scientific leap in 2026.

Istanbul has become a hub for space innovation today. As part of the DENEYAP Technology Workshops end-of-term project festival, more than 15,000 students from across Turkey gathered to showcase their scientific achievements in the aerospace sector [1]. The event, held to strengthen the "National Technology Initiative," hosted thousands of creative minds providing solutions for the challenges of living beyond planet Earth.

A Festival for Future Space Architects in Istanbul A large part of this festival was held in two major sports centers in Istanbul: the Muzahir Sille Sports Complex on the Asian side and the Ahmet Cömert Sports Hall on the European side [4]. In Istanbul alone, 2,151 students in 488 teams (including 360 middle school teams and 128 high school teams) displayed their projects [2]. During their training, these students learned the technical and theoretical skills necessary to design complex engineering systems.

The Challenge of Living in Smart Capsules: From Dream to Engineering The main theme of this year's festival was "Life in a Smart Capsule." Students were asked to design sustainable living conditions on a new planet after a long journey into deep space [3]. Participating teams first analyzed the environmental characteristics of their hypothetical planets, including soil conditions and climate, and then designed life support systems and smart biological capsules to address the problems arising from these conditions [1]. These projects demonstrate the high capability of the new generation in using engineering design processes to solve real and complex problems.

Wide Participation and Support from Turkish Scientific Institutions This major event was organized through the joint cooperation of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, TÜBİTAK, and the T3 Foundation [1]. At the national level, 3,666 student teams participated in this festival, indicating the widespread reach of technological education across 81 provinces of Turkey [2]. Organizers believe these workshops strengthen not only technical knowledge but also analytical thinking and teamwork skills in youth.

Bright Outlook for the New Generation in the Aerospace Industry The success of this festival in 2026 is a testament to Turkey's long-term investment in specialized human resources. Given the widespread interest, there are plans to expand DENEYAP workshops to other countries, including Uzbekistan and Bosnia and Herzegovina [2]. The students who presented their projects in Istanbul today will be the engineers and scientists of tomorrow's regional aerospace industry, pushing the boundaries of human knowledge [4].
