In line with its internationalization vision, Karamanoğlu Mehmetbey University (KMU) hosted students from Ghana, Ukraine, and Jordan who spent an academic semester in the heart of Anatolia through the Erasmus+ program.

Educational Diplomacy in the Heart of Karaman In the final days of June 2026, the city of Karaman, Turkey, witnessed the fruits of its efforts in developing educational diplomacy. According to the local media outlet "Karaman Gündem," Karamanoğlu Mehmetbey University (KMU) successfully completed the student exchange period under the Erasmus+ KA171 program for the second semester of the 2025-2026 academic year [1]. This program, designed to establish connections between different continents, attracted students from Ghana, Ukraine, and Jordan to the region to study in an academic and multicultural environment.

Cultural and Academic Experience in Five Faculties A total of seven international students from these three countries were enrolled in five different faculties at Karaman University. These students not only received education at European standards academically but also had the opportunity to closely experience the rich culture of the people of Karaman and Turkish traditions [2]. The interaction between local and foreign students on campus has created a dynamic atmosphere for exchanging ideas and strengthening mutual cultural understanding, which university officials state is one of the primary goals of Erasmus programs in 2026.

Farewell Meeting with the University Rector On June 26, 2026, these students, along with the Erasmus coordination team, held a cordial meeting with Professor Doctor Mehmet Gavgali, the Rector of Karamanoğlu Mehmetbey University. During this meeting, Dr. Gavgali emphasized the importance of these ties, stating that the presence of students from diverse geographies such as Africa and Eastern Europe expands the university's global vision [1]. He also noted that these educational collaborations will serve as the foundation for joint scientific projects and graduate-level educational partnerships in the future [2]. At the end of the ceremony, certificates of participation were presented to the students.

Future Outlook: Admission of New Students The success of this term is announced as Karaman University has already begun planning for the 2026-2027 academic year. The admission process for new international students, which began on May 25, will continue until July 3, 2026 [3]. The university aims to solidify its position as an international educational hub in the Anatolian region by increasing capacity and national diversity. The continuous presence of students from Ghana, Jordan, and Ukraine demonstrates the trust of international scientific communities in the educational quality of this center in 2026.
