Details of the Farewell Ceremony at the Rectorate Office On June 26, 2026, the Rectorate Office of Karamanoğlu Mehmetbey University (KMÜ) hosted a group of international students who spent an academic semester at the university within the framework of the "Erasmus+" student exchange program. Seven exchange students from Ghana, Ukraine, and Jordan met with Prof. Dr. Mehmet Gavgalı before returning to their countries after completing their training in five different faculties [1].

During the meeting, which was attended by Vice Rector Prof. Dr. İdris Nebi Uysal and Erasmus Coordinator Dr. Mehmet Cemil Şimşek, the students shared their experiences of living in the city of Karaman and studying within the Turkish education system. During their stay, these students not only improved academically but also became closely acquainted with the culture and traditions of the local people [2].

Importance of International Programs from Professor Gavgalı's Perspective During the visit, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Gavgalı emphasized the vital importance of student mobility programs such as Erasmus+. He noted that these programs are one of the main pillars for increasing the international visibility of universities. According to him, the academic and cultural bonds established through these exchanges will be the foundation for joint scientific projects and educational collaborations in graduate studies in the future [1].

The Rector of KMÜ also added that the university will continue its efforts to host talented students from all over the world to contribute to sharing global experiences and strengthening peace and friendship among nations. Addressing the students, he said: "You are now our cultural ambassadors in your countries, and we hope these connections will continue in the future" [2].

Cultural and Academic Experience in the Heart of Anatolia The students present at the ceremony expressed their full satisfaction with the educational quality and hospitality of Karamanoğlu Mehmetbey University and thanked the university management and academic staff. They mentioned that the Erasmus experience in Turkey helped them gain a global perspective and establish lasting friendships with Turkish students and other nationalities [1].

At the end of the ceremony, Prof. Gavgalı presented participation certificates to the students and wished them success in their future academic and professional lives. The meeting concluded with commemorative photos and the hope of meeting again. By strengthening its international infrastructure, KMÜ is striving to become one of the hubs for attracting foreign students in the Anatolia region [2].
