Student artists from Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University (NÖHÜ) achieved great success for the Turkish academic community by presenting 20 creative works at the 6th International Mail Art Exhibition, competing among over 1,200 artists worldwide.
Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University (NÖHÜ) has once again established itself as a leading center for nurturing artistic talent. Twenty students from the university's Art Club successfully participated in the 6th International Mail Art Exhibition (POMO VI), showcasing their works to a global audience [1]. This event, which focused on "postmodern" approaches, hosted 1,210 artists from 40 different countries, displaying a total of 1,250 artworks [2].
Global Achievement: The POMO VI Exhibition The POMO VI International Mail Art Exhibition is recognized as a prestigious platform for cultural and artistic exchange. In this edition, Niğde University students presented their innovative perspectives through the medium of Mail Art alongside artists from various nations. Curated by Prof. Dr. Hikmet Şahin, a faculty member of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Selçuk University, the exhibition was held at the university's art gallery from May 14 to June 12, 2026 [3]. The strong presence of Niğde students in this event reflects the dynamism and high level of artistic education at this academic institution.
Preparation Through Specialized Workshops The remarkable success of these students was the result of a meticulous and planned educational process. Prior to the exhibition, on February 25, 2026, a specialized workshop titled "Mail Art Workshop" was conducted by Dr. Baybars Sağlamtimur, the academic advisor of the university's Art Club [1]. Held in the cinema hall of the Faculty of Communication, the workshop introduced students to the history of Mail Art, aesthetic approaches, and postmodern art concepts. Additionally, they were taught the practical steps of submitting works to international exhibitions, which played a key role in the quality of the final pieces [2].
Interdisciplinary Collaboration and Artistic Reflections A notable aspect of this success was the interdisciplinary collaboration among the students. Among the 20 participants, 19 students were from four different departments of the Faculty of Communication, and one student was from the Faculty of Fine Arts [3]. This diversity demonstrates the influence of art across various academic levels at Niğde University. Names such as Arda Salman, Ayşe Geren, and Ayşegül Onur appear on the list of achievers whose works will soon be published in the international exhibition's digital catalog (e-catalog), serving as a lasting record of contemporary student art [1][2].
