Students from Sakarya University of Applied Sciences (SUBÜ) and Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University (BANÜ) gathered at a joint workshop in Sakarya to collaborate on innovative projects and technical skills.
In line with strengthening academic cooperation and enhancing students' practical skills, the city of Sakarya hosted a significant scientific event. Students from Sakarya University of Applied Sciences (SUBÜ) and Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University (BANÜ) participated in a joint workshop aimed at bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and industry needs [1]. This meeting, which was widely welcomed by professors and researchers, focused on developing joint projects in technical and engineering fields.
A New Approach to Applied Education in Sakarya SUBÜ, recognized as one of the pioneers of applied education in Turkey, provided a platform for interdisciplinary experience exchange by hosting Bandırma university students. In this workshop, student teams from both universities worked on solving real challenges in the industrial and technology sectors [2]. Such collaborations not only increase students' technical knowledge but also strengthen soft skills such as teamwork and problem-solving.
Main Themes of the Joint Educational Workshop Topics discussed in this workshop included production process optimization, the use of modern technologies in urban management, and the development of sustainable engineering solutions. According to reports published by local media, this event is part of a larger strategic program to integrate the scientific potential of universities in the Marmara region [2]. Supervising professors from both universities monitored the quality of projects presented by students and emphasized the importance of continuing these meetings.
Strengthening the Industry-University Link One of the key goals of this workshop is to prepare students for the labor market. Given the history of previous cooperation between these two educational institutions, holding such workshops in July 2026 demonstrates their deep commitment to the "workplace-oriented" education model [3]. At the end of this course, students received valid certificates indicating their active participation in research and operational projects.
Future Cooperation Outlook University officials in Sakarya announced that this workshop is only the beginning of a long path for broader cooperation. It is expected that in the coming months, more joint projects will be defined in the fields of artificial intelligence and renewable energy [1]. These inter-university interactions will play an important role in promoting the scientific ranking of both universities nationally and internationally, turning Sakarya into a hub for applied education in the region.
