Professor Aykut Hocanın, President of the Higher Education Planning, Evaluation, Accreditation and Coordination Council (YÖDAK), emphasized that the decisions made at the recent meeting of the Organization of Turkic States (TDT) have paved the way for scientific convergence and the elevation of academic standards across the region.

Professor Aykut Hocanın, President of the Higher Education Planning, Evaluation, Accreditation and Coordination Council (YÖDAK), in recent statements, evaluated the achievements of the 9th Meeting of Ministers of Education of the Organization of Turkic States (TDT) held last week in the historic city of Turkestan, Kazakhstan. He believes these decisions will elevate scientific cooperation among universities in the Turkic world to an unprecedented level [1].

A Major Step Toward Creating a Common Turkic Higher Education Area During these strategic meetings, key plans for the integration of the educational systems of member states were discussed and approved. One of the most important plans is the creation of a "Turkic World Higher Education Area," aimed at facilitating the mobility of students and faculty as well as the harmonization of curricula [2]. Aykut Hocanın noted that the formation of a joint "Quality Board" allows for the sharing of experiences in international accreditation and quality assurance processes. This move is considered vital, especially for North Cyprus universities seeking to strengthen their international standing [1][3].

The Key Role of the Database and the Top University League One of the ambitious projects emphasized by Hocanın is the launch of the "Turkic World Higher Education Database." This database is intended to integrate comprehensive information regarding universities, students, and faculty members of member countries. For instance, information related to 23 universities, over 100,000 students, and 5,000 academics from North Cyprus will be recorded in this database [1]. Additionally, planning is underway to create a "University League" where the region's top universities will be ranked based on quality criteria and compete for higher positions [2].

Development of Student Exchange Programs and Diploma Recognition Strengthening the "Orhun Exchange Program" is another main axis of these cooperations. With the creation of a special fund to financially support this program, student mobility among member states is expected to increase significantly [3]. Hocanın pointed out that ensuring quality and the international validity of diplomas issued through harmonized systems will open the way for a freer flow of students and the achievement of strategic educational goals in the Turkic world. He also emphasized the importance of the "Turkic Academy" as a platform for activating shared scientific potentials [1][2].
