TÜBİTAK Science High School, recognized as Turkey's most prestigious center for nurturing gifted scientific talents, held a grand ceremony today to send its first group of students to the world's and the country's top universities.
A Milestone in Turkey's Elite Education
Today, June 27, 2026, marked a historic day for the Turkish education system and the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK). TÜBİTAK Science High School, established in 2021 at the Gebze technology campus with the goal of training future scientists, celebrated its first graduation ceremony. In this event, attended by high-ranking government officials, university professors, and families, 84 elite students received their diplomas [1]. These students, selected from among the top performers in the national entrance exam, are now ready to continue their education in strategic scientific and engineering fields.
84 Young Scientists on the Path of Innovation
These 84 graduates represent Turkey's long-term investment in basic sciences and advanced technologies. Throughout their education, these students not only completed the national standard curriculum but also conducted research in fields such as artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and nuclear physics in well-equipped TÜBİTAK laboratories [2]. Many of these graduates have won numerous medals in international science olympiads over the past four years, demonstrating the high educational standards of this center.
Unique Facilities and Government Support
TÜBİTAK Science High School differs structurally from other schools for the gifted. Located in the heart of one of the region's largest research centers, students interact directly with top-tier scientists. The Turkish government has designated special scholarships for these 84 individuals to ensure these talents remain on the path of developing the country's indigenous technologies [3]. At today's ceremony, the Minister of Industry and Technology emphasized that these young people will be the architects of the "Century of Turkey" in the field of science.
Future Outlook for Graduates
With the departure of the first class from this high school, eyes are now fixed on the university entrance exam results and international admissions of these 84 individuals. Most of these students are expected to study computer engineering, aerospace, and basic sciences at top technical universities in Turkey and around the world. The success of this first class will pave the way for the further development of this educational model in other parts of the country [1][2].
