A university professor in Antalya has been accused of defrauding doctors and healthcare staff of more than 225 million Lira using a fake stock market algorithm and fleeing the country.

The medical and academic community in Turkey has been left in shock following the revelation of a massive fraud case worth 225 million Lira. According to reports published on July 6 and 7, 2026, "Fatih A.", a physician and lecturer at Akdeniz University, is accused of deceiving dozens of his colleagues, including prominent surgeons, with promises of astronomical profits in the US stock market [1].

The Algorithm Trap and Fake App According to preliminary investigations, the suspect gained the trust of those around him by claiming to have designed a "special algorithm and smart application" for trading in United States financial markets. He claimed that this system had very high returns and could multiply the capital of doctors in a short period [2]. Many victims, influenced by his academic and professional standing, not only paid him huge sums of cash but some even transferred the title deeds of their properties to his name [3].

Extensive Dimensions of Financial Losses Reports indicate that more than 50 people have been victimized in this case. It is said that one victim alone lost more than one million dollars in this system [1]. Some healthcare staff had taken out heavy loans or mortgaged their homes to invest in this scheme. Now, with the disappearance of the suspect, these individuals are facing a severe financial crisis [3].

Flight Abroad and Legal Actions After the victims failed to receive the promised profits and lost contact with Fatih A., they filed numerous complaints with the prosecutor's office. Investigations revealed that the suspect closed all his social media accounts and fled abroad (possibly to Paris) with the collected funds [2]. During the police operation, his wife "F.A." was detained but was released under judicial supervision after interrogation. Currently, an international arrest warrant has been issued for the fugitive professor, and efforts to return him to Turkey continue [1][3].
