Today, June 13, 2026, coinciding with the nationwide LGS exam in Turkey, Viranşehir Municipality implemented extensive support plans to provide a calm and encouraging atmosphere for students and parents, reducing the psychological pressure of this major competition.

Today, Saturday, June 13, 2026, was one of the most important days for eighth-grade students across Turkey and particularly in the Viranşehir region. The High School Entrance Exam (LGS), which determines the future educational path of thousands of teenagers, was held as Viranşehir Municipality mobilized all its resources to support candidates and their families [1].

Change in Exam Schedule Due to the World Cup The 2026 LGS exam faced an unexpected calendar change. While it was previously scheduled for June 14, the Turkish Ministry of National Education decided to move the exam forward by one day due to the critical World Cup match between the Turkish national football team and Australia [2]. This decision, aimed at preventing interference from potential celebration noises and traffic with the exam time, was welcomed by families so that students could compete in complete peace.

Kindness Stations Around Exam Centers Under its new management, Viranşehir Municipality set up special stations at all exam centers across the city. At these stations, items such as drinking water, cakes, and healthy snacks were distributed to students. However, the municipality's main focus was not only on the students; parents who waited for hours behind closed school doors in the summer heat were served tea, coffee, and provided with seating areas [1]. This initiative was carried out to reduce family stress and create a friendly environment around the exam venues.

Security and Welfare Measures at the Provincial Level In addition to municipal services, the Şanlıurfa Governor's Office implemented strict measures to maintain silence around schools. Hasan Şıldak, the Governor of Şanlıurfa, announced that setting up local markets near schools on exam day was prohibited, and police and traffic teams were on full alert to facilitate the movement of candidates [3]. Furthermore, civil registry offices operated exceptionally in the early morning hours for students who had lost their ID cards, ensuring no candidate missed the exam.

Municipality's Commitment to the Future Makers of Viranşehir Viranşehir Municipality officials, present at the exam sites, emphasized that supporting education is one of their top priorities. The municipality had previously prepared students for this big day by organizing free practice exams [1]. The goal of these activities is to create equal educational opportunities for all children in the region, regardless of their economic status. Viranşehir parents expressed their satisfaction with these services, stating that the presence of officials by their side was a source of encouragement during these stressful hours.

Viranşehir Municipality softened the atmosphere of the 2026 LGS exam by hosting parents and students.
