The Balıkesir Provincial Directorate of National Education has taken a significant step toward globalizing education and opening new paths for its students and educators in Europe by successfully completing international training courses in June 2026. [1]

The Turkish province of Balıkesir has become a hub of success for student and educator exchange programs across Europe in 2026. According to reports published on June 23, 2026, the Provincial Directorate of National Education successfully concluded the activities of the Erasmus+ Adult Education Accreditation Consortium with achievements exceeding expectations. This success, the result of long-term strategic planning, has solidified Balıkesir's position on the European Union's educational map. [1][2]

Remarkable Success in Adult Education Accreditation The recent project, coordinated by the Balıkesir Directorate of National Education, involved an intensive educational mobility period that began on May 4, 2026, and concluded with full success on June 19, 2026. During this timeframe, a total of 71 participants, including 36 adult learners and 35 educational staff, had the opportunity to gain experience at prestigious European centers. [1] The project was designed to enhance institutional capacities and strengthen international cooperation, setting new standards for technical and cultural education in the region.

Geographical Scope: From Germany to Greece Participants in this round of Erasmus programs were deployed to 5 different European countries: Germany, Czechia, Sweden, Spain, and Greece. During these journeys, 7 different adult education centers were visited, where diverse educational models, innovative teaching methods, and successful examples of educational management were examined. [2] Institutions such as the Altıeylül, Ayvalık, Havran, and Sındırgı Public Education Centers were active members of this consortium and successfully transferred the knowledge gained to their local systems.

Cultural and Educational Impact on Schools and Students In addition to adult education, Balıkesir's secondary schools have also shared in this success. For instance, Aslıhantepecik Secondary School sent a group of students and teachers to Madrid, Spain, in April 2026. [3] These students not only participated in international classrooms but also introduced Turkish culture to their European peers by performing traditional dances like "Harmandalı." These bilateral interactions have increased self-confidence, improved English language skills, and strengthened the spirit of European citizenship among Balıkesir's youth.

Budget Growth and Strategic Outlook The successes of 2026 are rooted in budget growth that began the previous year. Balıkesir's Erasmus budget reached an unprecedented 739,441 Euros in 2025, a two-fold increase compared to previous years. [4] This major investment allowed the provincial educational management to define higher-quality projects with a larger number of participants. Given the brilliant results achieved in June 2026, Balıkesir is expected to remain one of Turkey's leading provinces in attracting European Union educational resources and providing more opportunities for future generations.
